After a long  seven year delay the funds allocated to sustainable forest management programme have been released. An order was passed by the Supreme Court on July 10th, 2009. The funds were collected under the Compensatory Afforestation Management and Planning Authority when forest land was converted for non-forest use. These funds are now being used to aid re-forestation along with the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) which is an encouraging sign for sustainable development.
