The Dihing river orginates in the Patkai mountain range of the Himalayas, located in Arunachal Pradesh. It flows through Assam before merging into the Brahmaputra. Dihing is a Bodo word. Di means river and Hing means without obstruction. The river seems to be living up to its name.
It changes its course often, causing hardships to villagers in adjoining areas. So far, all their attempts to contain this river seem to be futile.
