While this would not be a ‘headline’ normally, it does today. Why? Because, it was the greed and negligence of doctors and health officials that consumed the lives of 38 innocent people.

Hepatitis B is a liver disease caused by the Hepatitis B virus. The virus that causes hepatitis B is spread through contact with infected blood or other body fluids of people who have hepatitis B.

According to the Serum Institute of India,

It is found that one in every twenty persons in our population is a Hepatitis B virus ‘carrier’. Accidental contacts with such ‘carriers’, who are unaware about the virus they are harbouring, can transmit the virus to others. Hence a constant risk of acquiring this infection exists in our country.

Thanks to the greed of some doctors in Modasa city limits and nearby areas of Gujarat, innocent people are now victims and carriers of Hepatitis B.  The doctors re-used syringes that could have been infected with Hepatitis B. Imagine the helplessness of these individuals, when the so-called ‘doctors’ rip them through their skin for profits at the cost of their lives.

Health department of Gujarat government seems to be taking some action now, as in arresting the doctors, and having vaccination programs for prevention.  But, if the Health Department was not lax in the first place, would the doctors have done this?
