While reading an article about India’s participation in an international renewable energy program I decided to visit the UNEP website and found wealth of information on environmental programs around the globe. Since, India is participating in the renewable energy program we can expect to see more technology transfer and progress in implementing renewable energy projects. An except of the newspaper article is given below.
On the UNEP website I found a link to Green TV which has interesting field videos about renewable energy, education, and many initiatives that make a positive difference.
“India has decided to join the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), an inter-governmental body aimed at spearheading the development and deployment of renewable energy technologies at the global level. The agreement would be signed and implemented through the National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics (NACEN) under the Finance Ministry. NACEN is a premier training institution to impart training to the officers of Customs, Excise and Narcotics.The UNEP would provide the funding for various projects to be implemented through a Centre to be set up under NACEN.” Read more at http://www.hindu.com/thehindu/holnus/002200901291552.htm
