The dreadful disease of HIV/AIDS has immensely increased in Tamenglong district of Manipur and two patients died in 2008. “Leave the fear of the dreadful disease of HIV/AIDS and let us live healthy and enjoy life normally,” said Alupou Pamei, a patient of HIV/AIDS.While interacting with the  Imphal Free Press correspondent, Alupou said long ago people thought HIV/AIDS was a curse by God and the person who caught by this disease could not live freely in society. People were afraid to even shake hands with other people or come near the infected person. But now one can get blood test and take the medicines and live a normal life, he added.He further said that even though Anti Retroviral Treatment – ART is free they were purchasing as there was no facility at Tamenglong. They had to travel at least two days to Imphal to collect the ART, he said.Some young married girls were living in tension and fear that their partners may have the dreadful disease, he said.
