According to the minister of state for external affairs and information and broadcasting, Anand Sharma, the UPA government has allocated Rs 1,940 billion under bharat nirman programme, which will change the face of rural India.The government has taken several policy decisions in the last four and half years for bridging the gap between urban and rural India. The programmes like national rural employment guarantee scheme have already benefited around 30 million rural poor, he said.
