Prem Kumar Dhumal, chief minister said that Himachal Pradesh government will promote value based education. Chief Minister said that human values deteriorated due to implementation of the Lord Macaulay Education System in India which promoted the slave mentality among Indian youth, who imbibed a sense of subordination to the british rulers. He said that India remained slave for 150 years due to British Education System but the same mentality is still prevalent in society. He said that Indian political leaders were talking of imparting value based education to the youth since last sixty years but so far none has taken steps to set up such infrastructure to take lead in this direction. He said that political leadership should come forward and evolve the old Indian system of education to develop the human values and also develop intellectuals rather than educated class in the country.
